VICTORY: Colorado Increases Statute of Limitations for Domestic Violence Torts

One year ago, FreeFrom spoke with policy leaders in Colorado about the need to increase the statute of limitations for survivors of domestic violence to sue their abusers for damages under tort law.

The Colorado legislature has now extended the statute of limitations to 6 years, and 20 years in cases of long-term disability, including traumatic brain injury.

Congratulations to the Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence for their tireless work in achieving this incredible step toward justice for survivors.

We look forward to collaborating with more state coalitions and leaders to give survivors adequate time to seek justice for the harm done to them.
