Taylor Blackston

Director of Communications

Taylor is a Black queer survivor of sexual violence. She proudly hails from Detroit, Michigan, but has spent most of her adult life living and working in New York City. Before joining FreeFrom, they worked as a Policy Advisor with the NYC Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence and a Housing Legal Advocate with the Urban Justice Center’s Domestic Violence Project. Informed by their experiences working with survivors, managing racial equity initiatives, and organizing alongside criminalized survivors, Taylor launched Sowing Wildflowers, a project focused on building safety with Black survivors of interpersonal and state violence outside of carceral systems.

Taylor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Education from Harvard. In her free time, she loves to go to the beach, eat sushi, dance, and spend time with her friends and family.
