FreeFrom Founder and CEO Sonya Passi gave a powerful speech about gender-based violence and economic security at the Free Future summit in New York on September 17.
Free Future is a collaboration between the Ford Foundation and The Meteor to create a content series about gender-based violence.
Sonya joined a few hundred movement leaders, philanthropists, celebrities, and other activists attending Free Future’s second annual summit last week.
In her speech titled “What Does Money Have to Do With It?”, Sonya spoke about what we can do to make sure all survivors can thrive.
“We can end gender violence,” Sonya said. “It demands that we understand it as an economic problem. It demands that we invest in a 100-year strategy. It demands that we break down the problem into a million pieces and go step by step, never losing sight of where we are in the process and never losing hope.”
