MIRABAI VOGT-JAMES
Mirabai Vogt-James is a marketing and communications leader with 20 years of experience driving visibility, revenue and narrative change for mission-driven organizations across the nonprofit, health/science, higher education and civic sectors. She partners with key stakeholders such as executives, researchers, advocates and government officials to build trust and inspire action through compelling storytelling. Above all, she centers the people at the heart of these stories: those living with or recovering from disease and accidents, and survivors of gender-based violence building lives defined by safety and joy. Before joining FreeFrom, Mirabai spent five years as vice president of communications at Stand Up To Cancer, where she designed strategies supporting nationally televised fundraisers, corporate partnerships and cancer awareness campaigns. She previously built UCLA’s Broad Stem Cell Research Center’s first marketing and communications function and held communications roles at Oregon Health & Science University and the Portland Metro Chamber. Mirabai has an M.S. in strategic communications from the University of Oregon and a B.A. in journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
After living in major cities for many years, Mirabai recently returned to Northern California, where she grew up, and settled amidst the majestic redwoods next to the Pacific Ocean. Outside work, she enjoys learning about scientific discovery, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends outdoors.
